Dr Tom MacGillivray, Prof Craig Ritchie, Prof Bal Dhillon and Dr Graciela Muniz Terrera receive funding from the Alzheimer's Drug Development Foundation (ADDF)

Monday, 3 June, 2019

The researchers within the Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences are among the first group who will receive this prestigious funding from the ADDF, through its Diagnostics Accelerator, a new research program aiming to fast-track the development of diagnostic tools and biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.

Dr MacGillivray's study emplys a novel combination of retinal biomarkers capturing neurodegeneration and vasculature dysfunction which is often found in Alzheimer's disease with advanced imaging analyses. If successful, the results of the project may be offered for widespread use as a cloud-based system for analysing retinal images or incorporated into the eye scan device software.

Award recipients were recognised at the ADDF’s 13th Annual Connoisseur’s Dinner held at Sotheby’s in New York City, on 30 May 2019.
