The 2017 Brain Prize has been jointly awarded to three British neuroscientists: Prof Wolfram Schultz (University of Cambridge), Prof Peter Dayan (University College London) and Prof Ray Dolan (University College London). They were awarded the prize for their work elucidating the dopamine reward system.

Prof Peter Dayan, currently the Director of the Gatsby Computational Unit, which is part of the new Sainsbury-Wellcome Centre for Neural Circuits and Behaviour at University College London, is a University of Edinburgh alumnus as he did his PhD with Prof David Willshaw in Informatics and Prof Sir David Wallace in Physics.

Prof Ray Dolan was also our Annual Distinguished Lecturer at Neuroscience Day 2007.
