Nature report on Rett Syndrome

Monday, 20 November, 2017

Professor Adrian Bird and colleagues (all School of Biological Sciences), in collaboration with Dr. Stuart Cobb and colleagues (formerly University of Glasgow, now Centre for Discovery Brain Sciences), have recently written a report for Nature on their research into Rett Syndrome. The authors look at the genetic mutations clustered in two discrete regions of a specific protein (MeCP2). Furthermore, the authors identify a unit ('minimal functional unit') for this specific protein that could be helpful in the design of therapeutic strategies for gene therapy for Rett syndrome.
