The role of neuroeconomic gameplay in psychiatric disorders

Dr Kristin Nicodemus (Institute for Genetics & Molecular Medicine) and colleagues have recently published an in-depth review of studies investigating neuroeconomic gameplay, an effective measure of social decision making that can be adapted for use in neuroimaging, in Axis 1 psychiatric disorders. The review encourages the use of these games as measures of several Research Domain Criteria, such as Affiliation and Attachment, Reward Responsiveness, Reward Learning and Reward Valuation constructs.

The review, published in Molecular Psychiatry, provides important information in regards to the role of neuroeconomic gameplay in psychiatric disorders, a research area still in its infancy.
