Congratulations to our Neuroscience Day 2017 poster and talk competition winners!

This month, Sue Fletcher-Watson (Clinical Brain Sciences) is featured in the Times Educational Supplement talking about her research as part of the 'Theirworld Edinburgh Birth Cohort' project.

The Patrick Wild Centre for Research into Autism, Fragile X Syndrome & Intellectual Disabilities has been awarded a donation of £20 million from the Simons Foundation to establish the ‘Simons Initiative for the Developing Brain’.

The 2017 Brain Prize has been jointly awarded to three British neuroscientists, one of whom is an Edinburgh Alumnus. They were awarded the prize for their work elucidating the dopamine reward system.

The Scottish Genomes Partnership has signed up its first recruits in a study which will sequence the entire genome of 1000 people, including 330 who have rare diseases, which include conditions such as muscular dystrophies, rare forms of intellectual disability and rare inherited neurological problems.

Congratulations to Professor Gillian Mead (Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences and Geriatric Medicine), who is part of a new £3 million NIHR award to develop and evaluate strategies to reduce sedentary behaviour after a stroke.
